We are a group of Te Reo Māori kaiako living and working within the rohe of Te Ati Awa ki Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Ngāti Toa Rangatira, and Ngāti Raukawa ki te Au o te Tonga. We are all members of the wider cluster, Te Kāhui Kaiako Reo Māori o Te Whanganui-ā-Tara. The geographical reach of the kāhui means we have kaiako who teach in secondary schools and kura Māori from Wellington in the South, to Ōtaki in the North. As a sub-group of the wider cluster, we were particularly keen to work collaboratively through an inquiry process, ultimately to strengthen the Māori language proficiency of our students, but also to improve our practice as teachers of te reo Māori.
Each cluster will share their findings from the collaborative cluster process. If you have an interest in this Inquiry you can request information from Āwhina Gray (Awhina@grayandgray.co.nz).
