Hui ā-Tau 2018
Nau mai, haere mai ki Hui ā-Tau 2018
Hui ā-Tau 2018 brought together members of the three Ako Panuku communities in a professional forum to collaborate, network and and share over two days of workshops and plenaries on issues affecting leadership, te reo Māori and the teaching of pūtaiao. The theme for this year's Hui ā-Tau was "Tūhauora, Tūhauako" - be well, teach well, learn well.
More than 100 Māori educators from English-medium and Māori-medium schools and wharekura (teachers, principals, academics, facilitators) from around Aotearoa met in Rotorua on 23-24 August.
This year's conference invited teachers, facilitators, and leaders to contribute to a discussion of ākonga, kaiako, tumuaki and kura wellbeing.
Hui ā-Tau 2018 will provided opportunities for attendees to:
- collaborate, share and learn with like-minded Māori professionals
- develop their professional and practice, particularly in pūtaiao and te reo Māori and leadership
- meet experts and colleagues across a range of teaching areas
- establish professional networks that serve as sources of support and expertise beyond the hui.
The draft conference programme will be updated closer to the conference. View the programme here.
We have an exciting range of speakers presenting at this year's conference. Many are practicing teachers willing to share their tips and practices. We are also fortunate to have presenters from iwi organisations, government agencies, tertiary organisations, and curriculum experts.
